The SAP Business One for Manufacturing solution covers 6 main production steps;
Step 1 – Define Production Process
Operations are the heart of the SAP Business One production system. You can predefine them with different work centres, day shifts and shift plans. In addition, you define the time the individual production operation will take, with setup and teardown and safety times all available as options. All necessary operational details can be added in order to generate a complete “production package” for use on the shop floor.
Step 2 – Define Bill of Resources
You can define the Bill of Resources (BoM) per end product or sub-assembly. Within the Bill of Resource you can use different types of material and pre-defined operations. You can also specify the standard time for each operation, depending on different lot sizes, as well as add outsourcing and routing information.
Step 3 – Determine Product Costs
For each Bill of Resources or production order you can do in depth calculations based on different cost and price schemas. This enables you to see the differences in lot sizes and add or update the various price lists. Recalculation is easy and flexible.
Step 4 – Material Planning
SAP Business One for Manufacturing performs real MRPII planning for your production and purchase needs. The system can generate the orders automatically. in addition, if you use the Make To Order functionality within SAP, you can work with order-specific material planning. You can also use different MRP scenario’s for simulating various business options. In order to provide support for modern businesses, the SAP Business One for Manufacturing solution can plan in detail down to the minute.
Step 5 – Capacity Planning
The cornerstone of the SAP Business One for Manufacturing solution is the graphical plan board. This shows the planned and/or released production orders by WorkCentre.
In addition, you can see what operations are pinned to a certain date and just double click on them to see the operation details.
You can select work centres, employees and tools to have a complete overview of your capacity and needs.
Step 6 – Production Data Collection
Accurate feedback of production operation status is essential in any system. SAP Business One makes this easy.
Every step in the production process can be selected for detailed production progress overviews.
The production data can also be entered on web terminals.
After entering the production data you have accurate insight in the differences between pre and post production calculation, enabling easy identification of labour and material variances.
